Job Title: Cycling Community Connector & Admin Support
Salary: £12.60 per hour (approx. £23,915 FTE)
Location: Colchester, Essex – Unity House, Hickory Avenue, Greenstead, CO4 3QJ
Contract: Fixed term until 31st December 2025
Hours: Full-time (36.5 hours per week). Part-time or job share considered. Some evening/weekend work during peak times.
We are recruiting on behalf of a community-focused organisation delivering a dynamic programme aimed at removing barriers to cycling. The initiative offers free bikes and support to eligible residents, helping them access education, employment, and wellbeing opportunities.
As Cycling Community Connector & Admin Support, you’ll support both the delivery and organisation of the programme. Your role will combine community outreach, volunteer coordination, and essential administrative tasks, helping ensure smooth day-to-day running of the project.
You’ll work partly in the office and partly in the community, engaging directly with local residents, partners, and volunteers to create a positive impact across Colchester (Greenstead) and surrounding areas.
Assist the Team Leader with scheduling, event support, data handling, and general coordination tasks.
Maintain clear communication with partners and community stakeholders using email, phone, and online tools.
Manage documentation, reporting, and compliance processes accurately and efficiently.
Help organise community cycling events and manage logistics.
Take an active role in performance tracking and internal development processes.
Build trusted relationships with local residents, groups, and organisations.
Support and grow a team of volunteers—recruiting, training, and developing them into active community champions.
Promote and deliver cycling and wellbeing activities, especially to groups who face barriers to participation.
Work alongside marketing and outreach teams to raise awareness of local opportunities and events.
Ensure safeguarding, health and safety, and equality policies are upheld at all times.
Proven experience supporting projects or services with solid administrative skills.
Confident using IT systems including Word, Excel, Outlook, and online platforms.
Effective communicator who can manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
Proactive and team-oriented with strong attention to detail.
Background in volunteering, community engagement, or working with people from diverse backgrounds.
Empathy and understanding of the challenges faced by underrepresented communities.
Ability to inspire and support others, including volunteers and community members.
Flexible, adaptable, and confident working in both team and independent settings.
Familiarity with social media and digital tools for community outreach.
