Job Summary

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing materials for production builds in support of customer orders, repairs, engineering development and sales while working in a fast-paced high-tech electronics manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strong knowledge of ERP system including Material Requirements Planning and Purchasing.
  • Must have strong experience with multi-level Bill of Materials in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Purchase raw materials, subassemblies, fabricated and machined parts per MRP signals.
  • Negotiate the lowest possible cost for the materials ensuring quality and scheduling needs.
  • Establish strong working relationships with suppliers.
  • Monitor and maintain delivery schedules and due dates within ERP system.
  • Work closely with Production Manager to provide material status for fulfilling customer demand.
  • Create purchase orders for services and supplies required for operation of business.
  • Help to determine priorities for all stockroom pulls to support the production schedule.
  • Support global buyers’ team
  • Assisting with the maintaining of stores and cycle counts for inventory control.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Effective written and oral communication skills needed to deal with the technical and interpersonal aspects of the position.
  • Effective planning, organizational and negotiating skills.
  • Fundamental knowledge of products purchased and manufactured including good purchasing practices and policies.
  • Knowledge of production and material, production control and inventory planning.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Windows programs, with a very strong emphasis on Excel.
  • Understanding and experience with integrated manufacturing software systems.
  • Ability to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Highest level of integrity, respect, honesty and trust
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Good Business Acumen
  • Self-motivated with high energy to drive for results
  • Must be able to work in a team environment as well as independently
  • Ability to prioritise workload to meet deadlines in Manufacturing Environment

Salary: £25-30k (dependant on experience)
Working Hours: Monday- Friday 8.30am-5pm 37 hours per week
