We are currently recruiting on behalf of our client, a respected and fast-growing organisation that provides vehicle conversion, maintenance, and repair services tailored specifically to emergency service vehicles. As they continue to expand, we are seeking a talented and motivated Auto Electrician to join their team.
This is a unique opportunity to work on highly specialised vehicles that play a critical role in frontline services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems in emergency response vehicles. This includes working with custom wiring looms, internal and external lighting, vehicle livery, audiovisual systems, telematics, onboard CCTV, auxiliary power units, and other specialised components.
Comprehensive training will be provided on the specific systems used, along with an initial mentoring period to ensure confidence and competence in delivering high-quality, independent work.
Carry out safe and effective maintenance and repairs across a wide range of vehicle makes and models.
Diagnose and resolve complex electrical faults using both manual and computerised diagnostic tools.
Ensure all work is completed efficiently, adhering to high safety and quality standards.
Support team members and collaborate to meet project deadlines.
Maintain a clean, organised, and health & safety-compliant working environment.
Communicate professionally with team members and stakeholders to support excellent customer service.
IMI Level 3 Diploma in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
Strong background in auto electrical and mechanical repair procedures (e.g., City & Guilds, BTEC, or HNC).
Full UK/EU driving licence; C1/D1 categories are advantageous, or significant experience working on larger vehicles.
Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and repairing a broad range of vehicle electrical and mechanical systems.
Previous experience working in a commercial or fleet maintenance environment.
IMI Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle Training (or equivalent).
IMI Level 3 Blue Light Vehicle Installer Training (or equivalent).
Professional membership with IMI or IRTE.
In-depth understanding of vehicle safety practices and repair protocols.
Skilled in using diagnostic equipment and interpreting technical data.
Competent IT user with the ability to adapt to digital systems.
Reliable, self-motivated, and well-organised.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team.
Committed to producing high-quality work with excellent attention to detail.
