Top Job Recruitment is excited to be working on behalf of a reputable children's home located in Thaxted. We are currently recruiting compassionate and dedicated Support Workers to join their team, providing exceptional care and support to children and young people with diverse needs.

Job Description:

  • Participate in the delivery of agreed support programs through small group or individual work.
  • Carry out domestic duties as required.
  • Assist children and young people with their daily independent living skills.
  • Provide necessary personal care and support.
  • Prepare accurate reports and reviews as required.
  • Create a welcoming environment for families and visitors, encouraging their involvement in planning learning opportunities.
  • Respect and maintain the confidentiality of children and adhere to all policies and procedures of the children's home.
  • Work in compliance with anti-discriminatory practices and promote equal opportunities.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of health, hygiene, and safety regulations.
  • Develop an understanding of the specific needs of children and young people in the home.
  • Provide regular feedback on support and significant issues in the daily lives of the children.
  • Access a range of resource materials to support learning and development.
  • Attend review meetings, staff meetings, and supervision sessions.
  • Participate in training sessions as directed.
  • Fulfill a keyworking role, where appropriate.

Person Specification: Support Worker (Part-Time & Bank Staff)

Essential:

  • Demonstrated commitment to creating an environment that respects a person's independence and encourages individuality.
  • Ability to carry out domestic duties as required.
  • Knowledge and ability to promote the dignity and individuality of children and young people.
  • Maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Evidence of training and knowledge applied in practice.
  • Positive interest and approach in working with children and young people with diverse needs.
  • Maturity and responsibility to undertake the duties of the role.
  • Effective communication skills with children, colleagues, families, and professionals.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and show initiative when required.
  • Commitment to personal and professional development.
  • Ability to provide care and support sensitively, including intimate care.
  • Ability to remain calm and composed in crisis situations.
  • Accurate record-keeping skills.
  • Commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Willingness to work a rota shift pattern and lead shifts, if required.
  • Completion of induction within the specified timeframe.

Desirable:

  • Understanding of care planning, behavior development plans, and keyworking responsibilities.
  • Knowledge or potential to understand the concept of group living.
  • Relevant qualifications in the care of children and young people.
  • Full, clean driving license.

Attitude:

  • Possess a good sense of humor.
  • Committed and enthusiastic.
  • Creative approach to work.
