Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:20pm (40 hours/week, minimum 20-minute unpaid break)
Overtime: Available during busy periods
Contract Type: Permanent (following successful 6-month probation)

We are working with a long-standing and reputable manufacturer of rigid kitchens and bedroom furniture to recruit a hands-on and detail-focused Edge Bander Operator. This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit team within a well-established family-run business, operating in a busy and productive factory environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate edge banding machinery, including the modern Homag Edgeteq S-380 and earlier Homag models

  • Edge panels after beam saw processing, preparing them for the CNC stage

  • Work with a variety of edging types, widths, and thicknesses

  • Accurately identify edge colours and sizes

  • Perform regular stock checks and manage edge materials

  • Create and modify machine programs for different edging requirements

  • Monitor and maintain machine condition, ensuring safe and efficient operation

  • Follow production paperwork to ensure correct items are produced on time

  • Keep the machine and work area clean, organised, and safe

  • Collaborate with other team members to support production goals

Development Opportunities (Post-Probation):

  • Cross-train on additional machinery within the production line

  • Access to forklift training, as well as opportunities to become a trained first aider or fire marshal

  • Take on wider responsibilities as needed to support business operations

What We’re Looking For:

  • Organised, proactive, and capable of working independently

  • Quick to learn new systems, processes, and products

  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of quality control

  • Strong numeracy and literacy skills

  • Good communicator with the ability to work as part of a wider team

  • Physically fit and comfortable with a role that involves regular lifting and movement

  • Previous experience working with wood—either professionally or as a hobby—is highly desirable

  • Experience in joinery, carpentry, or operating machinery in a production environment is a strong advantage

Role Requirements:

  • On-site position only—this is a hands-on factory role, so remote or flexible working is not available

  • Potential for earlier start time after completion of the probation period

Package & Benefits:

  • Salary: Negotiable based on skillset and experience

  • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:20pm (no evenings or weekends)

  • Holiday: 30 days annual leave including 8 bank holidays (January to December)

    • 5 days to be reserved for the Christmas shutdown (approx. 1.5 weeks)

  • Probation: 6-month probation period

  • Pension: Government pension scheme included

  • Overtime: Available during peak periods
