Position: Edge Bander Operator
Location: On-site / Factory-based
Salary: Negotiable depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 4:20pm (40 hours/week, minimum 20-minute unpaid break)
Overtime: Available during busy periods
Contract Type: Permanent (following successful 6-month probation)
We are working with a long-standing and reputable manufacturer of rigid kitchens and bedroom furniture to recruit a hands-on and detail-focused Edge Bander Operator. This is a great opportunity to join a close-knit team within a well-established family-run business, operating in a busy and productive factory environment.
Operate edge banding machinery, including the modern Homag Edgeteq S-380 and earlier Homag models
Edge panels after beam saw processing, preparing them for the CNC stage
Work with a variety of edging types, widths, and thicknesses
Accurately identify edge colours and sizes
Perform regular stock checks and manage edge materials
Create and modify machine programs for different edging requirements
Monitor and maintain machine condition, ensuring safe and efficient operation
Follow production paperwork to ensure correct items are produced on time
Keep the machine and work area clean, organised, and safe
Collaborate with other team members to support production goals
Cross-train on additional machinery within the production line
Access to forklift training, as well as opportunities to become a trained first aider or fire marshal
Take on wider responsibilities as needed to support business operations
Organised, proactive, and capable of working independently
Quick to learn new systems, processes, and products
Excellent attention to detail and high standards of quality control
Strong numeracy and literacy skills
Good communicator with the ability to work as part of a wider team
Physically fit and comfortable with a role that involves regular lifting and movement
Previous experience working with wood—either professionally or as a hobby—is highly desirable
Experience in joinery, carpentry, or operating machinery in a production environment is a strong advantage
On-site position only—this is a hands-on factory role, so remote or flexible working is not available
Potential for earlier start time after completion of the probation period
Salary: Negotiable based on skillset and experience
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:20pm (no evenings or weekends)
Holiday: 30 days annual leave including 8 bank holidays (January to December)
5 days to be reserved for the Christmas shutdown (approx. 1.5 weeks)
Probation: 6-month probation period
