We are currently working with a leading Caribbean Developer assisting them with the recruitment of an Estimator to work in the Cayman Islands.

Job Title: Estimator 
Reports to (position title): Head of Estimating and Quantity Surveying

We are seeking experienced applicants for the position of Estimator.

Key responsibilities and job duties will include but not be limited to:

Job Purpose:The ideal candidate will have previous experience in project management and estimating for building construction; be personally motivated, organized and detail-oriented in the execution of all position-related duties and responsibilities.

The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head of Estimating and Quantity Surveying and management in identifying, planning, and implementing process changes for development and growth of the estimating function. The successful candidate will also assist in setting position-related and department performance criteria, monitor progress, and help the company achieve its goals.

The Estimator is responsible for a full range pricing or costing in various schemes as necessary to support corporate preconstruction services, or client sales and marketing efforts. The principal deliverable report will be the budget, estimate or cost plan in various formats. Either by directing, or in support of, preconstruction services, the Estimator collaborates with internal and external clients, select design disciplines, subcontractors and material vendors to price and forecast costs for developer/builder projects, designated external negotiated or tender projects.

In the process of producing this major deliverable report, he/she is responsible for utilizing the fullest range of communication skills and detail in the extraction, analysis and translation of construction documents, specifications, proposals and other design documentation as necessary to prepare a comprehensive resource estimate for select projects by performing any number of duties as outlined below. Last, in support and augmentation of the Estimate as a major department deliverable report, he/she may lead or support other related sales and marketing efforts as deemed necessary to foster additional value for the client.

Main duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
• Prepares estimates with the appropriate level of detail for relevant stages of pricing development.
• Working knowledge of conceptual, schematic, or detailed estimating, along with a corollary understanding of design / specification development and working construction designs.
• Working knowledge of contract delivery methods, document formats and support by estimating.
• Oversees maintenance of historical and up-to-date cost database development for work-in-progress use.
• As estimator, assists and supports the estimating team for cost development in support of internal and external clients.
• Collaborate with clients, design disciplines, and prospective building team members – trade and material vendors – as necessary to identify and articulate project requirements and critical performance criteria.
• Collaborate with Project Team to monitor progress, performance, develop and execute action plans as necessary to ensure project cost, schedule and quality criteria are met.
• Develop and produce secondary deliverable reports in support of field construction, such as estimated manpower, plant and equipment, bill of materials, and nominated building team members.
• Assist Preconstruction Team or Sales and Marketing Department in proposal presentation to internal and external clients.
• Maintains and executes the schedule for relevant cost development within the preconstruction stage.
• Ability to concurrently manage and track critical deliverable reports from Estimating for multiple preconstruction projects.
• Perform or assist in the building team member qualification process to assure that costing along with nominated trades or vendors have the appropriate experience and capabilities for project performance.
• Manage the quotation process for prospective building team members, utilizing suitable resources, means and methods to clearly communicate guidelines to bidders for their proposals.

Requirements, Qualifications, Abilities & Experience include the following:
• B.S. degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Construction Management; or equivalent practical experience in lieu of education.
• Minimum of five (5) years, broad-based, construction experience with a minimum of three (3) years of estimating experience.
• Established experience and capability to initiate, develop and complete estimates for large CM/GC, CMaR, and Design-Build projects more than 7-figures in cost value.
• Demonstrated experience and capability for cross-functional and interdisciplinary collaboration among construction professionals.
• Above-average personal time management, multitasking and interpersonal skills.
• Established experience and capability for consultative sales and marketing, negotiations, and business communications.
• Broad-based and working knowledge for best industry practices and standards.

Salary:
Starting salary from £46,000/ CI$50,000 per annum, commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
