Top Job Recruitment, is currently hiring Factory Operatives on behalf of our client based in Colchester.
This is a temporary-to-permanent position with an established manufacturing company.
Job Summary: As a Factory Operative, you will play a vital role in the production and packaging of high-quality food produce. You will be responsible for operating various machinery and equipment, monitoring production processes, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment. Your attention to detail, efficiency, and commitment to following established procedures will contribute to the success of their manufacturing operations.
Responsibilities:
-Machine Operation: Operate production machinery and equipment such as slicers, fryers, seasoning applicators, and packaging machines according to standard operating procedures.
-Production Monitoring: Monitor the production process to ensure smooth operations, identify potential issues or malfunctions, and take necessary actions to maintain productivity.
-Quality Control: Conduct regular quality checks on the products to ensure they meet our standards, including appearance, texture, and flavour. Report any deviations or concerns to the supervisor.
-Packaging and Labelling: Package the products into appropriate bags, boxes, or containers, ensuring accurate labelling and adherence to product specifications and weights.
-Inventory Management: Assist in monitoring and maintaining stock levels of raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products. Notify the supervisor when supplies need to be replenished.
-Cleaning and Sanitisation: Follow proper cleaning and sanitisation procedures for equipment, workstations, and production areas to maintain a hygienic and safe environment.
-Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to minimise the risk of accidents, injuries, or product contamination. Report any safety hazards or incidents promptly.
-Record Keeping: Maintain accurate production records, including batch numbers, quantities produced, machine settings, and any other relevant information required for traceability and quality assurance purposes.
-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to ensure smooth coordination and effective communication within the production process.
-Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in process improvement initiatives, suggesting ideas for enhancing efficiency, quality, and safety within the manufacturing operations.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or food production environment is desirable but not essential.
- Ability to operate machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining product quality.
- Good manual dexterity and physical stamina to perform repetitive tasks.
- Basic math skills for measuring ingredients and recording production data.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to standard operating procedures.
- Flexibility to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays if required.
- The role requires transport due to the location, and the working hours are from 2:00 PM to 12:00 AM.
- The starting salary is £11 per hour, with the potential to increase to up to £14 per hour once the position becomes permanent.
