Top Job Recruitment is currently looking for a Family Support Worker to work in a mother and baby Unit in Sandy, Bedfordshire.

This position is a full-time position at 37.5 hours a week consisting of 5-day shifts over the course of 7 days.  In addition to this, you will be required to work at least one night shift a week between the hours of 22.00-07.30.

Job Role

  • Supporting mothers and babies within the service and working with them to learn basic life skills so they can work towards living independently.
  • Work closely with other health care professionals such as social workers, health visitors, perinatal team, and others to provide the best support for the mothers and babies.
  • Uphold strong safeguarding practices and principles to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • Take active participation in the child in need or child protection conferences.
  • Provide feedback to other healthcare professionals and the management team regarding service users and their progress while living at the unit.
  • Plan activities and take part in house meetings and key work sessions.
  • Take part in domestic duties and observations supporting the mothers with their day to day lives.
  • Develop safe, professional, supportive, and nurturing relationships with the service users.

Requirements

  • Level 3 in children and young people’s workforce or equivalent (or willing to work towards the qualification within 6 months of employment)
  • Experience in contributing to support plans and observations.
  • Working with children, young people, and their families.
  • Report writing and presenting during reviews, inspections, and meetings.
  • Knowledge and understanding of- Child Protection and Safeguarding Management.
  • Good communication skills.
