Top Job Recruitment is currently looking for a Head of School to run a school for 18 pupils aged 11-17 in Little Clacton.

Our client is an independent specialist school providing high-quality therapeutic and child-centred education to children from a range of backgrounds. All the pupils attending the school have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs (SEMH) and many also have other special education needs such as autism and ADHD. Many of the pupils have suffered significant trauma and adverse childhood experiences.

Roles and Responsibilities: -

  • Provide guidance to staff to ensure the best possible education is being given.
  • Ensure the safety and safeguarding of all pupils.
  • Assessing and supporting staff.
  • Working with external advisors, other school leaders and a specialist regional SENCO.
  • Build positive relationships with your team of Teachers, Teaching Assistants and Students.
  • Plan trips, visitors and activities outside of the classroom to keep the children engaged.

A successful can will have: -

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • A proven record for outstanding teaching practice.
  • The ability/ willingness to teach Maths and/or English to a GCSE level.
  • Supporting children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences.
  • Manage challenging behaviour and work with Children with SEMH difficulties.
  • Have a non-judgemental approach to behaviour management.
  • Experience or willingness to deliver vocational subjects such as BTEC, Functional Skills or ELC.
  • A passion for making a difference to the education and lives of young people within the school.
