JOB TITLE: HR Advisor (Temporary/Fixed Term)

PAY: £12.78 per hour

HOURS: 37.5 FULL TIME MONDAY- FRIDAY

DEPARTMENT: HR

LOCATION: Working from home with occasional visits around Colchester

JOB SUMMARY

  • To provide efficient and proactive generalist HR advice to managers and staff across the areas of employee relations, pay and conditions, recruitment & selection, and workforce information
  • To support the HR Business Partners in the delivery of a customer-focused service to managers across the organisation regarding HR/people management issues

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To provide a full range of HR advice (and administrative support where appropriate) to managers and employees around the areas of employee relations, pay and conditions (including TUPE staff on various terms and conditions), recruitment, organisational change, and workforce information.
  • Support the department with staffing matters and provide consistent first-line HR advice to managers and employees on service conditions and HR policies & procedures.
  • In conjunction with the HR Business Partners to provide consistent first-line HR advice to managers and employees, including within designated business units, on sickness absence & ill health, conduct, organisational change, poor performance, and maternity cases.
  • To assist managers with the monitoring and management of staff sickness absence in accordance with relevant policies & practices.
  • To provide effective administration support including note taking and first-line HR advice for disciplinary, grievance and performance/capability cases.
  • To investigate and resolve staff payroll issues, liaising as necessary with Payroll staff.
  • To maintain effective links with the Payroll provider, raising service/operational issues with them as & when necessary including attending stakeholder meetings.
  • To attend as HR representative at formal meetings with managers, staff and staff-side/trade union representatives around employee relations issues, for example sickness absence; grievance, organisational change, redeployment/redundancy, etc.
  • To hold individual meetings with staff as required, for example exit interviews and Guaranteed Interview Procedure interviews.
  • To support Managers in recruitment initiatives, developing recruitment material, attending job fairs etc.
  • To maintain effective links with the Occupational Health Service provider, including attendance at stakeholder meetings, and raising service/operational issues with them as & when necessary.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with staff side representatives.
  • To create and develop effective workforce information systems and run regular reports as required by the organisation.
  • In conjunction with the HR Business Partners and Assistant Director of HR, ensure that HR policies are kept up-to-date and relevant, and new policies developed where necessary.
  • Provide training & guidance to managers and staff on HR-related issues, including support with and delivery of training sessions as required.
  • To assist with the Job Evaluation process, including provision of advice & guidance to managers and staff, and attendance at job evaluation panels as required.
  • To undertake project work on HR related issues
  • To undertake any other duties commensurate with the role described above. As the organisation develops it may be necessary to review the duties and responsibilities.
