Job description

Our client is currently seeking a Product Developer to join their growing team within Colchester specialising in creating frozen desserts. The focus will be on creating products for existing projects but also in scoping out recipes and ideas for current and new customers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Be part of the team to ensure delivery of “concept to launch” process i.e. writing and developing recipes, making and presenting samples for customers
  • Design recipes based on varying needs e.g. benchmarking/product matching, up and coming trends, vegan and vegetarian, new flavours and concepts, cost, nutritional guidelines e.g. sugar levels/calories/fat
  • Support in the delivery of factory trials
  • Work alongside the technical department to ensure food safety and customer compliant products
  • Research into market trends using online desk research, reports and current retail/food to go/restaurant trends/ products

Desirable Skills/Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a food production environment hospitality or manufacturing
  • Knowledge of ingredients to help deliver more than just flavour e.g. functional properties to product/improved texture
  • Strong creative mindset with ability to influence whilst taking on board wider opinion/direction
  • Interest in food trends
  • Flexibility in working hours attendance of trials during an early/late shift pattern occasionally required

Holiday: 28 days including bank holidays

Timings: 8.00am – 5.00pm

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £20,000.00-£25,000.00 per year
