Top Job Recruitment are working alongside a UK leading furniture manufacturer, assisting them with the recruitment of a Production Planning Manager. You will be responsible for producing production plans, revising as required to ensure on time delivery of upholstery items in line with business plan.  Alongside this you need to also ensure bills of material reflect a true and accurate list of items and labour for each product. Ensure that component materials are received on time and are ready for production.

The following list is not exhaustive and is intended only to indicate the range of activities that the post holder will be required to undertake. Further duties and responsibilities may be added as identified from time to time and it is expected that the post-holder will accept all reasonable requirements and developments of the job.

Production Planning:

  • Manage, Control and ‘Own’ the Production Planning Schedule. Ensuring information is kept up to date as this forms the basis of the whole production process.
  • Check accuracy of order information and component ordering prior to releasing the production plan, notifying relevant parties of discrepancies and/or required changes to specification.
  • Prepare and communicate weekly work schedule to production management and outsourced manufacturing suppliers.
  • Hold daily production meetings
  • Revise schedule to take account of order amendments, fast tracks and production delays or failures and communicate revisions in a timely manner.
  • Provide information on lead time for production to “Sales”.
  • Assist production team to meet daily and weekly targets.
  • Liaise with EU Factory regarding production of projects going through there, to ensure these are on time and in line with required despatch dates.
  • Attend weekly production meeting with EU Factory via Teams, every Friday at 12pm.

Procurement:

  • Work with purchasing to build a PSL of suppliers with a comprehensive supplier listing.
  • Ensure that there are at least 3 providers for all components
  • Negotiate bulk order discounts, volume/value discounts etc
  • Always be looking for new supply options, better and / or cheaper.
  • Ensure suppliers deliver on time and in full – build a record of this
  • Identify ‘claw-backs’ or ‘recharges’ for late deliveries, re-works etc etc – this would be fed from the Production Manager, Warehouse Manager or Purchasing.

General:

  • Attend meetings as required.
  • Assist and maintain ISO9001 as part of an ISO team
  • Any other duties delegated by Senior Management.
