Job Title:  Sewing & Cutting Production Team Leader

Main Purpose of the Job:

Responsible for the monitoring of work through Sewing and Cutting departments, to ensure that daily/ weekly targets are achieved in an efficient and timely manner.

Key Tasks Defined.

  • Monitor employee attendance and co-ordinate with Sewing & Cutting Supervisor agreeing plans to fulfil the required daily production/ loading target each day.
  • Implement daily plans including people, equipment, and floor space, to ensure each department is sufficiently resourced.
  • Ensure work is allocated to each area in the correct making order, to meet the agreed production target and advise the Sewing & Cutting Supervisor of any potential shortfalls.
  • Ensure shop floor presence throughout the day, to ensure potential issues are promptly highlighted and acted upon.
  • Report any tool/ machine breakdowns to Sewing & Cutting Supervisor and Engineering.
  • Identify and report any material/ potential stock issues to the Sewing & Cutting Supervisor and Buying Office.
  • Ensure quality standards are monitored on an ongoing basis. Take appropriate action for repeated poor workmanship in area of responsibility. Notify relevant departmental Supervisor / Manager if quality standards are not being met in other areas of the business.
  • Check associated work sheets on a daily basis and record absence & overtime accurately for payroll purposes.
  • Supervise any temporary workers, ensuring correct inductions are undertaken along with an introduction to the work required. Sign off agency weekly time sheets.
  • Actively promote health & safety in areas of responsibilities, ensuring all personnel & equipment adheres to company policies & procedures at all times. Ensure all work areas are kept clean and tidy.
  • Maintain and update where required the daily fire list register(s) for your areas of responsibility and supervise employees in the event of a fire/ fire drill.
  • Alongside the Sewing & Cutting Supervisor liaise with the Health & Safety Manager to ensure risk assessments are kept up to date and appropriate action is taken to minimise / eliminate identified risks in the business.
  • Alongside the Sewing & Cutting Supervisor identify training needs and organise for training to be completed, especially for new models.
  • Ensure correct and up-to-date production methods are used
  • Utilise Movex and Microsoft Office to enhance your ability to plan and co-ordinate production within your departments.
  • Assist where required with stock takes.
  • On an ad hoc basis cover the role of Sewing & cutting Supervisor. Attend/ participate in the morning production meeting as required.
