Job Title: Quality Technician
Location: Clacton-on-Sea
Reports to: Assistant Quality Manager
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Hours: 8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

About the Role

We are currently seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Technician to join our clients quality team at their site in Clacton-on-Sea. This is a key role ensuring products meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance. Reporting to the Assistant Quality Manager, you will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of quality control activities across raw materials, in-process production, and finished goods.

Key Responsibilities

  • Sampling and quality control analysis of incoming raw materials
  • Collation and review of Raw Material Specifications, Certificates of Analysis, and Certificates of Conformance
  • Sending raw materials and finished products for microbiological testing and ensuring schedules are met
  • Trending and tracking micro results, arranging retests, and follow-up actions as needed
  • Pre-production verification of paperwork and batch records
  • In-process product sampling and quality analysis during production
  • GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) auditing of the factory environment
  • Conducting internal systems audits and supporting non-conformance tracking
  • Performing metal detector checks, label verification, and cleaning chemical concentration tests
  • Carrying out hygiene swabbing and environmental monitoring
  • Post-production checks including paperwork reviews and final product QC testing
  • Supporting the Assistant Quality Manager in the Supplier Approval process
  • Acting as cover for the Assistant Quality Manager during holidays or absence
  • Contributing as an active member of the HACCP team
  • Ensuring daily compliance with BRC standards

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience in a quality role within manufacturing (ideally food, pharma, or FMCG)
  • Strong attention to detail and good organisational skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, regulated environment
  • Good communication and teamwork abilities
  • Familiarity with BRC, HACCP, and GMP is highly desirable
  • IT literate – comfortable with data entry, tracking, and trending results
