Salary: £15.00 – £18.95 per hour (depending on experience)

We are working with a specialist education provider to recruit an experienced School Business Manager for an immediate start. This is a fantastic opportunity to join the Senior Leadership Team and lead on all non-teaching operations in a busy and rewarding school environment.
As School Business Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing finance, administration, HR, catering, and site management functions—ensuring the smooth and compliant running of the school and supporting the Headteacher in strategic and operational decision-making.
Finance & Budgeting
Lead on all aspects of financial management, including budget planning, monitoring, reporting, and audits
Oversee purchase and sales ledgers, expenses, invoicing, and banking
Ensure financial systems and procedures are compliant and efficient
Manage contracts and procurement to achieve best value
HR & Staffing
Manage recruitment, onboarding, and staff records
Ensure DBS and pre-employment checks are completed to safeguarding standards
Administer payroll data and liaise with HR departments on employment matters
Maintain the Single Central Record and ensure all staff compliance is met
Premises & Site
Coordinate site maintenance, repairs, and health & safety compliance
Line-manage site staff and oversee lettings and security arrangements
Catering & Facilities
Manage the school’s catering operations, working with the Catering Manager to ensure budgeting and food safety compliance
Admin & Systems
Line-manage the admin team and office functions including reception, MIS, and communications
Maintain school policies and ensure website and records are compliant
Support ICT coordination and management of licenses and data systems
Proven experience in a similar role, ideally in an educational setting
Strong financial acumen and leadership skills
Excellent organisation and communication abilities
A solid understanding of safeguarding, HR procedures, and school operations
Ability to work flexibly and handle multiple priorities under pressure
This role is initially offered on a temporary basis due to urgent need, but there is potential for a permanent contract after 3 months for the right candidate.
