Job Description:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Senior Support Worker to join the team at our esteemed children's home. In this role, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in placement. You will provide guidance, support, and supervision to residential workers, promoting professionalism and adherence to policies and procedures. Your commitment to maintaining a positive and engaging environment for the children will be essential to their overall well-being.

Responsibilities:

Key Responsibility 1: Care and Welfare of Children

  • Plan, manage, and lead shifts to ensure the safety and engagement of children throughout the day.
  • Follow and adhere to each child's Placement Plan at all times.
  • Promote and support education, ensuring consistent attendance of each child.

Key Responsibility 2: Guidance and Support to Residential Workers

  • Ensure all staff demonstrate professionalism in their actions and behaviour.
  • Monitor compliance with policies, procedures, and risk assessments.
  • Facilitate a "rolling rota" system to maximize staff's exposure to different working methods.
  • Ensure staff regularly review the Daily Logbook for messages and complete incident/accident forms promptly.
  • Maintain familiarity with Child Protection Procedures and report any concerns to the Registered Manager
  • Foster a culture of confidentiality among staff members.

Key Responsibility 3: Supervision of Staff

  • Conduct effective supervisions and provide guidance to staff regarding training needs.
  • Ensure staff complete training in accordance with their induction schedule and Personal Development Plan
  • Raise concerns about staff progress or attitude with the Registered Manager when necessary.

Key Responsibility 4: Reporting Concerns

  • Immediately report serious issues or concerns to the Registered Manager

General:

  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Contribute to creating a pleasant working environment.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in working hours to meet organizational needs.
  • Maintain awareness of Health and Safety regulations and uphold the upkeep of the building and surroundings.
  • Undertake any other reasonable duties as requested.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children, adhering to relevant policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to and promote the Company's Equalities, Inclusion, and Diversity Policy

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience working in a residential care setting, preferably with children.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of child welfare and safeguarding practices
  • Ability to effectively manage and prioritize tasks.
  • Familiarity with relevant legislation and regulations
  • Compassionate, patient, and empathetic approach towards children
  • Willingness to work flexible hours as needed.
