We have an exciting new opportunity for a Trainee Decking Operative for our client based in Sudbury.

Due to growth, our client is looking for a Trainee Decking Operative (Stud Welders) to develop within their safety netting, metal, and stud welding site teams

You will be provided with full training and on-going skills development to help move onto gaining a metal deck installation NVQ level 2 which will also in time include stud welding

Progress in training and competence will be a reflection of your wage.

As a trainee decking operative, this role will involve working within install teams to attend construction sites and will work on steel frames mainly but also masonry structures to place metal deck components over the floor areas in preparation to take concrete pour.

You will work closely alongside an experienced foreman who will work to construction drawings which have been prepared by the office team.

You will be fully trained in all task and work up to measuring and laying out the decking areas with less supervision

You will then be trained in stud welding and further development within this skilled trade.

Required Skills and Competencies  

  • College course or apprenticeship within joinery, carpet laying, plumbing, electrician or bricklayer would be an advantage
  • Hard-working, physically fit and committed is a must
  • CSCS card is a must or willing to apply for one asap.
  • Flexible attitude to traveling and working away if need be due to certain job locations
  • Full Valid UK Licence with no more than 3 points.
  • Comfortable working at heights
  • Strong Communication skills and number literate
  • Any experience doing safety net rigging would be an advantage but not essential

Location: The company is based in Sudbury but will include traveling around the country

Salary £75-£125 per day depending on experience and training + incentive bonuses and overtime available

If required to stay from home travel or accommodation/food will be covered as well as over-night pay
