Trainee Service Engineer – Tolleshunt D’Arcy, Essex

We are recruiting on behalf of a growing engineering company that specialises in the manufacture and supply of filtration equipment. Due to business growth, they are looking to add an additional Trainee Service Engineer to their team based in Tolleshunt D’Arcy, Essex.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Complete servicing, routine maintenance, overhauls, commissioning, and training of filtration equipment across a range of industries.
  • Write detailed customer service reports with recommendations.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships to ensure repeat business, including upselling products and services.
  • Produce quotations and liaise with customers to receive purchase orders.
  • Manage order-specific parts and general stock using company systems.
  • Identify new potential clients to grow the customer base.
  • Assist with service-related marketing initiatives as required.
  • Work as part of a team to meet customer needs.
  • Display extensive working knowledge of industry standards and practices.
  • Write risk assessments and method statements for booked work.
  • Manage all aspects of job scheduling including weekly/monthly work diary, administration, and travel arrangements.
  • Provide support and advice to the wider team as required.
  • Attend training events including annual technical training.
  • Travel extensively throughout the UK, Ireland, and internationally as required, including overnight stays.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and an interest in engineering.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and self-motivation.
  • Relevant experience or qualifications in mechanical engineering or field service work.

Job Details:

  • Full-time, permanent
  • 37.5 hours per week plus overtime (average 40–50 hours per month)
  • Basic salary £25,440 per annum plus overtime and commission
  • Realistic earnings during the 12-month induction period: £32,000+ per annum
  • Realistic earnings once fully trained and building a client base: £50,000+ per annum
