Qualifications: We are looking for enthusiastic individuals who have a genuine desire to support children and young people with additional needs. While experience working with children who have behavioral challenges or additional mental health and well-being needs such as Autism or ADHD is desirable, it is not essential. The successful candidate should possess empathy, understanding, and a commitment to helping children achieve their aspirations. Your primary duty will be to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents throughout the night, with support from a sleep-in staff member. You will handle any behavior management issues that arise during the night and maintain communication with the on-call manager as needed. Additionally, you will assist the day team in maintaining the home and its expectations. If required, you will provide proactive support to children during the night and provide a comprehensive handover to the morning team for any necessary follow-up support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the provision of a sensitive and therapeutic residential service that meets the social, psychological, educational, cultural, physical, and health needs of young people.
  • Ensure that the care provided aligns with the Statement of Purpose.
  • Provide guidance, support, and advice to young people to maintain established boundaries, structures, and organizational expectations.
  • Carry out domestic tasks to maintain cleanliness and hygiene levels, ensuring the overall condition of the building is satisfactory.
  • Attend relevant meetings.
  • Empower young people in making positive decisions.
  • Serve as a role model for good practice.
  • Assist in implementing the activities program.
  • Provide support with general administration tasks.
  • Support care planning and behavior management within the home.
  • Accurately record all shift events in the logbook and ensure incident forms and young people's logs contain relevant information.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate commitment to personal development through ongoing training.
  • Maintain professional communication with parents, social services, and other relevant authorities.
  • Effectively lead the night shift and manage any incidents with support from the on-call manager.
  • Work safely when operating independently and utilize supervision to reflect on performance.

Skills: Essential:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in behavior management and knowledge of safeguarding principles.
  • Ability to handle unexpected situations effectively.

Desirable:

  • Valid driving license.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Children's Workforce (or a commitment to undertake this qualification).

Personal Attributes: Essential:

  • Enthusiastic and positive disposition.
  • Committed to achieving the best outcomes for children.
  • Flexible in meeting objectives.
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal development.
  • Proactive and solution-focused.
  • Loyal and dedicated.
  • Resilient.

Desirable:

  • Creative and innovative mindset.

Remuneration: £12.00 - £12.50 per hour
