Welder/Fabricator

Location: Near Wickhambrook, Suffolk (within easy reach of Bury St Edmunds, Haverhill & Newmarket)

Salary: £14.50–£15.80 per hour (DOE) | £30,160–£32,864 per annum

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm (40 hours per week, 1-hour unpaid lunch)

Contract: Permanent or Temp-to-Perm Available

An established and growing engineering manufacturer is looking to recruit an experienced Welder/Fabricator to join its skilled production team. The Role

You'll be responsible for the welding and fabrication of a wide range of components and assemblies, ensuring work is completed to a consistently high standard while supporting production targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • MIG welding and fabrication of sheet metal and heavy gauge steel components
  • Working from engineering drawings to produce accurate weld assemblies
  • Manufacturing components to company quality standards
  • Operating workshop machinery and equipment safely
  • Maintaining a clean and organised work area
  • Reporting any faults or production issues to the supervisor
  • Supporting other departments, including Assembly, Paint and Stores, when required
  • Following all Health & Safety procedures and maintaining a safe working environment

What We're Looking For

Essential

  • Proven MIG welding experience within a manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Ability to produce high-quality welds on materials ranging from approximately 1.5mm to 20mm
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in producing quality work
  • Reliable, hardworking and able to work well within a team
  • Strong communication skills and a proactive attitude
  • Own transport and the ability to reliably commute for an 8:00am start (essential due to the rural location)

Desirable

  • TIG welding experience
  • Experience working with stainless steel
  • Experience operating fabrication equipment including band saws, press brakes, plasma cutters, guillotines or similar machinery
  • Forklift, Telehandler, MEWP, Crane or Scissor Lift certificates
